In making our way to Dubrovnik, we had to cross a border. 4 scruffy looking guys got pulled off the bus by the border officials. I thought how glad I was I wasn’t them. And then the officials told Nicole & I to get off too! We had to dig around the bottom of the bus to get our backpacks then go into their office where the officials were already going through the other guys’ backpacks. They were literally taking every single thing out of their packs. I was dreading my turn. The officials had the easy job of taking everything out. We got stuck with the hard part of repacking in a hurry which would mean just shove everything in and hope your pack zips. Luckily they were a little more lenient with Nicole and I think the male officials felt awkward sifting through a woman’s things so after they halfway went through Nicole’s stuff and by  they time it was my turn they just unzipped my stuff then waved me on. Whew! We survived our first time getting pulled off a bus through a boarding crossing!

Then we continued on our way to Dubrovnik which is a cool city. When we were walking to our hostel, we went through many narrow streets. We saw 8 men carrying a car. On its side. Uphill. Through this street. They would carry it a few minutes then rest. A very random sight for sure!

Dubrovnik is just a cool coastal town. If you love being around water, you will like this city which is enclosed by old city walls.

There are lots of boats that come in & out of harbor all day long!

You can walk along the docks and check out all the boats, big & small.

We had fun sitting out by the water each night as we had our grocery store dinners!

I’m a mountain girl!

Nicole & I got to go exploring and we always took the path that looked the most fun!

One time, we even left the tourist path behind. We rode the cable car up the mountainside but weren’t super impressed with the view. We didn’t want to spend all that money just to turn around and leave so we were determined to spend at least another hour up on the mountain. So we went exploring. We walked around to the far side of the cable car just to kill time, found a path and followed it to the end of the road where we came upon  a field & kept on walking. A little further out in the field, we found some rocks to sit on and saw a beautiful sunset. We sat about an hour enjoying ourselves just watching the sun slowly slip down with no one in sight!

My favorite thing was swimming in the clear blue water! I even got to give my chacos a long overdue bath!
