A group of filmmakers gather once a month to share what they’ve been working on and they recently starting issuing film challenges. Last month’s challenge was to create a one minute film in one shot with no cuts. This is what I came up with:

This was my first attempt at using a blue screen or in my case a $1 plastic table cloth. Another note, the last song was chosen partially as a joke because while I was raised in the dirty south (with no complaints) most of the people in this film group got involved because they knew the band who sang the song. Ironically, the former lead singer of the band happened to show up the night I showed it so that was pretty awkward.

Obviously travel is still fresh in my mind. However, so is my home: Atlanta. Ever since I moved here, Atlanta has always felt right though not necessarily home. I think when I first moved to Atlanta, I thought it would be temporary. I thought God was going to ask me to go overseas again. Instead he has been settling my heart. He has been helping me to begin to take root in this city. He has been helping me transition into a more permanent mindset & lifestyle.

I’m not saying I will be here forever – only until God says it’s time to go. We all know it wouldn’t be the first time God has uprooted me. But somewhere along the way, when I wasn’t looking, Atlanta started to feel like home and now I’ve started claiming Atlanta as my home. I just had to take the long way home.
