Nicole & I celebrated our first Albanian New Years. It is a huge deal. People here work 7 days a week, 365 days a year. A few lucky ones only have to work 6 days a week. So New Years is the only holiday that everyone celebrates. So of course it’s a big deal. Nicole and I ate dinner with the family downstairs and hung out with them until it was time for the fireworks. Here, you buy your own fireworks and you shoot your own fireworks. I wasn’t sure what to expect since I’m used to fireworks in the States where you watch someone else do them. But looking around our neighborhood last night was one of the most awesome things I have ever seen. Plus, it’s much more fun to shoot off your own fireworks. So yes, it’s official. I’m a huge fan of Albanian New Year celebrations! Check out the video below to see for yourself.
