Everyone knows the verse

Then if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and restore their land. // 2 Chronicles 7:14

But if you keep reading, you’ll find even more encouragement!

Soloman has just finished building the temple and all the Isrealites have dedicated the temple to the Lord. God responds to the people. The first thing he says is that he has heard their prayers but that doesn’t mean that no bad things will come their way.

Then he tells them that when bad things do happen, if they humble themselves, well you just read the verse. You’ve probably even experienced it. If you ask God, he will take care of you.

But God doesn’t just stop there. He continues on

My eyes will be open and my ears attentive to every prayer made in this place [the temple Solomon built]. For I have chosen this Temple and set it apart to be holy—a place where my name will be honored forever. I will always watch over it, for it is dear to my heart. // 2 Chronicles 7:15-16

God is talking about the temple Solomon built. But now, thanks to Jesus, our bodies are the temples that the Holy Spirit dwells in (1 Cor. 6:19).

The same applies to God’s temple today which is you and me.

That means 5 things:

One: God’s eyes will be open & His ears attentive to [every prayer] made in us (his temple) // He will see & hear every prayer we pray!

Two: God has [chosen] us…you and me (his temple) // He chose us!

Three: God has [set us apart] to be holy // We are special to God!

Four: We are where God’s name will be [honored forever] // In everything we say & do we will honor God!

Five: God will [always] watch over us (his temple), for we are dear to His heart // God will take care of us because we mean the world to him!
