God can do anything, anytime, anywhere. I totally believe that. But sometimes…there might not be enough money, there might not be enough time, there might not be the right people, I might not have the right skills, and sometimes, well…it might even be too stinky.
Lazarus had died and already been buried yet Jesus was at his tomb and ordered for the stone to be moved. I’m not sure if Martha knew what was coming but she had to expect something big. I mean Jesus was doing miracles left and right. At any rate, Jesus ordered for the tomb to be opened.
“But Lord,” said Martha, the sister of the dead man, “by this time there is a bad odor, for he has been there four days.”
Then Jesus said, “Did I not tell you that if you believe, you will see the glory of God?” // John 11:39-40
Sometimes, I’m like Martha. I totally believe God can do anything but sometimes I throw in a “But Lord…” too.
But Lord it’s going to stink real bad!
But Lord there’s not enough money.
But Lord there’s not enough time.
But Lord I’m too tired.
But Lord I can’t do that!
God will work regardless of all of our but Lords. But those can slow us down from seeing the glory of God or even keep us from seeing it all together. I don’t want to miss out on seeing God working and moving. I don’t want to miss out on seeing and experiencing his miracles!
If I can keep my focus on my belief that God can do anything instead of focusing on the less than ideal (for me) circumstances, I bet I’ll see and experience the glory (and miracles) of God more often!
Love this! Encouraging. Thanks.
