Sofia reminded me a lot of Albania. Just the streets & cleanliness factor alone is similar to Albania’s city life.
Their preservation attempts or lack thereof remind me of Albania as well. The Rotunda of St. George is located in the courtyard of the Sheraton Hotel! Such a random place for a piece of history!
They did have the national theatre in a beautiful building.
My favorite experience was coming across a jazzy New Orleans type band in a park. Nicole & I sat and listened for a while. When we left, we gave them some money and the trumpet player blew kisses at us through his trumpet! This park will always make me smile!
We never were able to get ahold of a map of Sofia since we didn’t stay at a hostel or go on a free walking tour so we did a lot of wondering around.
And finding random things.
But we also found some pretty churches.
And pretty streets!
Nicole even made some friends!
