Budapest is a cool city. It is actually like two mini cities. Buda is on one side of the river and pest is on the other side. Together, they form Budapest! Nicole & I had good timing because we were there for their Independence day and got to see lots of fireworks!
They also had a boat parade! But apparently we missed the memo because we waited and waited but the parade of big boats never came – just boats with tourists.
We did get to see a parade though! With Hungarians dressed in their traditional clothes as they formed a processional to the church.
The highlight of Budapest for me was the segways! It was a lot of fun to zip by all those pedestrians on foot!
We had a tour guide who zipped us around the whole city! Once she tried to take us through two parked cars but the cars were just close enough that we couldn’t fit through – even though she tried (and failed) several times.
Once we went downhill. To go slowly, you have to lean back. If you lean forward, you will go faster. Usually, I was in front of Nicole but I noticed her passing me on this particular hill. I looked over and saw panic all over her face. I told her to lean back. She said, “I am leaning all the way back.” Only, from what I saw, she was leaning forward. She eventually got bucked off and walked away with a scratch and bruised ego.
We also had an apartment that was near the center of the city and was great for peoplewatching!
Budapest is definitely a beautiful city!
