So I’m still catching up on 2 years of American trends that I missed while I was in Albania. But I’m also getting used to the big city life now. I’m still not sure if some things seem so new to me because I’m from a small town or have been living overseas or both. But either way I’ve got a lot I’m learning!

Yellow lights mean drive as fast as you can to make it through the intersection. While when turning right on red you only really have to slow down a little – without actually coming to a complete stop. Also, when driving on the Georgia 400 or the interstate, if you don’t drive at least 10 mph over the speed limit you will get run over. It doesn’t really matter because no matter how fast you go people will keep zipping on by you – except of course during rush hour.

One Albanian saying that applies here is “if you hesitate, you wait” as in if you think too long before you turn or change lanes or anything while you are driving, you are going to be stuck waiting for a while!

Tshirts, sweatshirts & jeans don’t cut it in the city. Apparently 98% of girls dress to the nines at all times. And yes. I prefer to dress for comfort over style. So I guess I’d better find cute comfortable clothes! I’m not sure I’ll ever be able to conquer high heels though…

I took the trash out one day this week. I didn’t have to drop it off on the side of the road. I dropped into a trash compactor! So fancy! I also saw a real legit dump truck picking up trash the other day. I’m not going to lie. It was a little bit amazing to watch how it worked.

Also cake pops. Until a couple days ago when my roommate brought me one home from work, I had never seen or heard of them.聽Um apparently these became a thing while I was in Albania as well they should because they are the. best. thing. ever.

  1. I’d say the driving & dressing shock is because you aren’t a city girl, but cake pops, definitely something you missed out on while in Albania! Boy those things were everywhere for a time, but yes… totally amazingly delicious! Now we just need to invent Krispy Kreme Cheerwine pops… 馃檪

    • Ok, I’ve been here 7 1/2 years and I totally dress for comfort. I guess the need depends on where you are/type of job circle. Also, the driving still shocks me daily. And the traffic is totally unpredictable…really! We should meet up soon! By the way, cake pops are fairly easy to make. 馃檪

    • Krispy Kreme & Cheerwine…a combination that is never wrong 馃槈

  2. Didn’t you have a cake pop at our house? We have them. Laughed so much at the dump truck. Enjoy but forget the heels
