Everything was rushed – even though I got to leave early. I was googling things right up until I left and then was hurrying to make sure I made it to Memphis before dark. Ideally, I didn’t want to have to pitch a tent by myself for the first time in the dark considering I’d learned how to pitch a tent the night before in a Starbucks parking lot. So honestly I just grabbed a few pieces of gear from work hoping to make do with it and hit the road.

Since everything was hectic and rushed up to the point I left, I’m afraid that set the mood for the trip. After driving in rain the entire way to Birmingham, I was so thankful to notice that it was beginning to let up. IMG_3537

I only had one thing to see on my Birmingham list and that was the LED light tunnel. So I drove until I was a couple blocks from it hoping to find some free parking. Luckily I spotted a park so I drove over hoping that like many parks, there would be free parking nearby. There was! It was actually a really cool park with a train that came through just on the other side of it. Unfortunately, none passed through while I was exploring it on the way to the light tunnel.

The light tunnel looked like nothing at first. Turns out the lights are on a slow timer. So they start out one color and eventually they end up with multiple colored lights on at the same time. Not sure if it would be worth the trip just to see them but they were still cool to look at and a fun memory to make!

So after I took a few pictures, I headed back to the car. I had Memphis on mind.
