Last Friday was International Women’s Day. So of course, Nicole and I wanted to try and do something special for some of the women we know. We decided to take them to lunch. We were told that restaurants fill up fast on Women’s Day so we went Thursday to make reservations, something Nicole and I thought didn’t exist in Albania.
The guy told us we could eat upstairs and we’d pay per person. This sounded good to us because we didn’t know if we would have to order for people ahead of time or let them order for themselves or what. So this made it easy. We just have to show up.
So we showed up with 6 women other than Nicole and myself.
There were already several groups of women eating at the restaurant. The music was blasting the whole time. Not good for conversations but great for dancing.
As soon as we sat down, they brought out some salads. Then they brought out a plate of meat. Then a plate of fries and more meat. Then dessert. Needless to say we had plenty to eat.
They had a DJ who was playing music the whole time. Nicole and I tried our best not to but we did end up on the dance floor. We did an Albanian dance which I finally started to get the hang of.

We still have to watch our feet…
But then we had to do some regular dancing. However, in my case I’m not sure I’d call it that. I’m not sure what I’d call it…
This pretty much sums up my abilities on the dance floor
Everyone had fun eating, dancing and talking (when you could hear each other over the music). It was definitely a day full of great memories!
Albanians love to dance!
